All of the hill-top Tuscan towns are absolutely breathtaking, but one of our favorites was San Gimignano. It’s a medieval town encircled by walls and filled with beautiful sites galore.
An approximate two-hour drive from our hotel, La Canonica Di Cortine, was the Cinque Terre on the coast of the Italian Riviera. The Cinque Terre region is composed of five gorgeous coastline villages. You can hike to the charming villages on a rugged hillside trail that connects them or take the train to-and-from. Unfortunately the Via Dell’Amore trail (the “Love Walk”) was closed for repairs so Ben and I chose to visit a few towns and cool off by taking a salty swim here and there (it was HOT!)
