Based on what you mostly see me wear (e.g. sequin rompers, feminine fit and flares and studded heels), you wouldn’t be able to guess this, but I am the queen of comfort. Literally the moment that I walk in the door everything that I am wearing hits the floor and I am straight into my cozy loungewear (I keep a set downstairs for the times I don’t even feel like making it all the way up to the bedroom). All I want is to immediately be comfortable and warm so that I can snuggle up with my pups (Wookie and Mini), hot cocoa in hand.
And when it comes to being comfortable (and cute), Aerie is my go-to. As you can tell from these photos, I don’t think that it’s possible to be any more cozy – I mean, have you seen these super soft Fair Isle Leggings?!
Aside from their comfort, what I also love about Aerie is their empowering message: they believe in being real… and with that comes no “retouching” — I couldn’t agree more. The real you is beautiful, inside and out. It can be is so easy to lose sight of that in a world full of filters, the seemingly perfect blogger and their perfect Pinterest-worthy life, and supermodels flaunting their flawless bods that is impossible to obtain without starvation and a whole lot of retouching. Let’s get real guys… no one is perfect. It can be scary to put the real you out there… trust me, I know. I struggle with this everyday with my blog. I want to be vulnerable and put myself out there… and I am trying… but sometimes it takes a little convincing on my part, reminding myself that it’s ok to let it all hang out there. For example, I am petrified of posting selfies for some reason… I take a million and one before I find one that I think is “just ok…” but on those rare occasions I take a leap and actually post one, I just take a deep breath, hit publish, let my heart calm down and remind myself it’s ok. Who cares if no one “likes” it or I get flack for my untamed brows (oh, it’s happened… and you may even notice them in this post since I too have done no retouching to these images aside from adjusting the color or light). But it’s important to be happy being you – the real you. The best attitude is the kind that says, “hey, this is me… take it or leave it… but I know I am worth it.”
Anyway, enough of my ramblings… but I do urge you to always be the real you… and be sure to take a look at Aerie, not only for their cute loungewear, but also in support of their great message. I applaud them for standing out from the crowd by taking a stand.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope that you can all find your perfect cozy loungewear!
