I have been jumping around a bit on my NYFW coverage, but on my third day in New York I attended a lovely breakfast at Claudette (so good) followed by the beautiful kate spade new york fw16 presentation at the classic Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center. As usual, everything was so perfectly playful, cheeky and feminine and I can't wait for everything to hit the stores.
House classics were reinterpreted with a retro inspiration that I am totally loving. You know me... feminine with a hint of retro bohemian... total heaven. Think longer hemlines with a touch of drama with airy chiffons, heavy tweeds and embellished florals. Cabaret singing and jazz piano played in the background to set the mood of the collection. And the accessories were as stand-out as ever keeping things young and fresh. My favorite look from the presentation was the polka dot jumpsuit with the mod red sunglasses (gimme gimme gimme)!
After the presentation we headed up to the Top of the Rock observation deck to do a little sightseeing and take in the expansive concrete jungle views. When you're already at the Rockefeller Center, it's kind of hard not to. The wind was seriously chilling (um, can we talk about the frigid weather while I was there?!)... but I had my black wool coat and fur everything to keep me warm. Of course, now that I am no longer in New York the temps have warmed up again.
But while I was there, the more layers the better. Tights and boots were a daily must.
For this look I chose to layer a tissue thin turtleneck under this dusty rose pink vest dress for a little added warmth. And PS, did you see that this dress also comes in a pink buttoned maxi skirt version? Both are some of my favorite pieces for Spring.
