Sedona is one of my favorite places - and I am lucky that it's only a two hour drive from Phoenix. We love getting away to this special place any chance we can get. It's the perfect relaxing weekend getaway that happens to also be filled with adventures and exploring.

We have been a few times and keep finding ourselves itching to go back. So today I thought I might share a little weekend getaway guide to Sedona with you.

Things to do:

Go for a hike

It's undeniable how beautiful the red sandstone rock formations making up this beautiful spot are... and the best way to soak it all in is by getting out there to explore. One of our favorite ways is hiking. My favorite hike is Cathedral Rock Trail. It's a steep trail but the views are worth it. I also love visiting Devil's Bridge. It's a 2-mile roundtrip hike in and out to a large natural stone arch. Another great hike is Brins Mesa Trail. It takes you up Wilson Mountain about 500 feet to a mesa overlooking Soldiers Pass and Mormon Canyon. If you're looking for more adventure, then I recommend heading right at the top of the mesa for an additional mile and connect to the Soldiers Pass Trail.

Visit Oak Creek Canyon

Wander through towering red canyon walls and keep cool under the shady forest while listening to the rushing creek. You can visit Slide Rock where you can slide down a slick natural water chute or wade through the creek.

Relax at the Energy Vortex at Buddha's Beach

Considered the site of a subtle energy vortex, Buddha's Beach is a great spot to hang. Visit Red Rock Crossing Park and park and walk up the trail until you hit Buddha's Beach. You will know when you get there - it sits next to Oak Creek and his filled with hundreds of cairns (manmade stacks of stones piled on top of one another).

Visit T'laquepaque Arts and Crafts Village

When you need a break from the trails, take a gander at the local art shops in T'laquepaque. The cobblestone village is home to a variety of art galleries, rug stores and new age shops. They also have ice cream... I am just sayin'.

Visit the spa

Ben and I were in desperate need of some relaxation and decided to visit the spa at L'Auberge de Sedona. We got a couples hot stone massage and it was so incredible (and much needed)! Afterwards, we decided to create our own stimulating body scrubs at their L'Apothecary. I made up my own recipe using a variety of their fresh ingredients and have been using it here back at home to make my winter skin soft again.

Star gaze

Out in the desert you can see the sky more clearly and it's fun to take in the canopy of stars. If you're good with your camera, you can get some killer shots. That's something I am trying to work on anyway... my nighttime photography skills.

Where to stay:

L'Auberge de Sedona

One of my all-time favorite places to stay is at the beautiful L'Auberge de Sedona (where we stayed this time). It's nestled right next to Oak Creek and it's fun to wake up and listen to the rushing water and the ducks wading along. If you're visiting in the summer, the tree's shade and the creek's water will help keep you cooler. We stayed in a gorgeous (and newly renovated) creekside cabin and it was so amazing snuggling up to our fire each night with a glass of wine in hand. It's the perfect spot to relax after a long day of adventuring.

Where to eat:

Coffee

Ben and I tried a few spots while we were in town but we kept coming back to Creekside Coffee. It's within walking distance of L'Auberge too so major bonus points for that! Not only was their coffee delicious, but they also have some of the most gorgeous views! Below their coffee shop is also an arisen café that, although we didn't get the chance to try, looked delicious.

Breakfast

Our first morning we ate breakfast at Etch at L'Auberge and their pancakes were heavenly! Ben got the breakfast burrito and he still talks about it haha. We also tried out Che Ah Chi at Enchantment Resort for Sunday brunch and we loved it! The scenic views are matched by the yummy food!

Dinner

We absolutely loved our dinner at Cress at L'Auberge. We ate here the night we arrived and both of our meals were so mouthwatering. Not to mention the warm apple cobbler for desert was incredibly mouthwatering and I am still dreaming about it haha. Our other favorite spot is Mariposas. It's a Latin-inspired grill and their pescado paradiso was to-die-for! I also highly recommend their corn queso empanadas. We ordered two of them haha! For desert, try the key lime pie!
