London Travel Guide

As you guys know, Ben and I recently spent a little (yes, sadly, a little) time in London and it was certainly not enough. What a beautiful city. We had both been there before but it was so fun exploring the city together and visiting some of our favorite spots. We had just a little over twenty-four hours to explore so we had to narrow down our list a bit, but I wanted to share with you our travel diary from London.

What to do:

Kensington Palace

First things first, we touched down in London and to fight our jet lag, we headed straight towards Kensington Palace to view the royal palace and wander through beautiful Hyde Park along the way. It's a beautiful walk and was cool to see where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge reside in London.

Tea Time

We were hungry and wanted to experience some traditional afternoon tea, so after viewing the Palace we wandered over to The Orangery and ordered an assortment of tea and pastries. It's a relaxed and elegant setting that's perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up.

Big Ben, Westminster and the London Eye

When you don't have time for crowds or long lines but still want to see London, you can't miss heading over to Big Ben, Westminster and the London Eye. It's always fun to see the gorgeous clock tower and is an iconic London spot. You can stroll around Parliament Square and take in the rich history.

Where to Stay:

The Westbury-Mayfair

Ben and I stayed at the Westbury Mayfair Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, and it was perfect. Not only was our luxury king room spacious and so comfortable, but we loved lounging in their Polo Bar (outfitted with Swarovski Crystal fittings and custom Fendi details). By the way, they were so sweet and welcoming (hello balloons, cookies, flowers and fruit waiting for us in our room)!

The Westbury-Mayfair was also located in an ideal central area on Conduit Street (just across from the famous pink tea-house, Sketch), and just off the famous Bond Street. We loved our short (three-minute) walks to Oxford Street and Regent Street for some shopping too.

When we come back, and I hope it's soon, we will definitely be coming back to the Westbury-Mayfair.

Saturday Market

Portobello Market

My trip to London wouldn't be complete without an excursion to Notting Hill. It's the most charming neighborhood and we love strolling the colorful streets, so it was the perfect opportunity to hit the famous Portobello Market since it was a Saturday! All the street stalls are set up on Saturday so if you're looking for a market experience, it's the best day to come. It is quite busy but its fun to feel the excitement and buzz around the market. Head to Notting Hill Gate using the Underground or grab an Uber, but either way, you can't miss it! Just follow the signs and the crowds, and enjoy!

Obviously, ice cream was a must.

Afternoon Pick-Me-Up

Peggy Porschen

If you have a sweet tooth like me, head over to Peggy Porschen for some afternoon tea and cake. It also happens to be super adorable and photogenic (I love the blush pink decor and tableware). They have the best strawberry cake!

All in all, we had an amazing experience in London and we can't wait to visit again soon.

And honestly, my heart is broken for London right now. We are thinking of the victims, their families and friends and the people of this great city. I hope all you Londoners are doing ok and staying safe. We are praying for you and stand with you.
