Five Holiday Shopping Tips

Make your holiday shopping list

Create a list of everyone you intend to buy for and what you plan on getting them. Don't forget to include things like hostess gifts for those inevitable holiday parties and items for that family gift exchange you're included in year-after-year. One perfect gift for the holidays are the Burt's Bees Holiday Gift Sets. They make for a great natural and affordable stocking stuffer or gift for your coworker (it's available at Walmart or on Walmart.com.

Once you've made your list, keep it handy so you can refer back to it often and check things off as you buy.

Check items off as you wrap them

Speaking of your holiday list, I like to make a checkmark after an item has been purchased, and another checkmark after it's been wrapped so I don't forget. There is nothing worse than forgetting what's already under the tree.

Do your homework

I always hate when I buy a gift at full price only to see another retailer has it listed for sale, so I like to do my homework first by comparing prices at different retailers. Once I know where I want to shop, I make a list of where I need to go in my notes on my phone and what I need to buy while I am there so I don't forget. I also like to consider heading to retailers that carry a myriad of gift options for everyone on my list so I can cross things off in bulk. Like Walmart: They have everything you need to get ready for the holidays.

Get an early start

It's much easier to enjoy your holidays when you're not rushing around buying last minute gifts. Procrastinating makes me feel rushed, which also makes me end up overspending because I am less inclined to make smart choices with my money. So it's best to get a head start and begin your holiday shopping early enough to feel relaxed and enjoy the holiday celebrations.

Be thoughtful

The best part of the holidays is the feeling you get when you give your loved ones presents that you choose especially for them. Seeing the smile on the faces of those most important to you is what Christmas is all about.
