Let's be honest, we've all got 'em. Stretch marks: they're kind of just a fact of a life (unless you're some crazy form of a unicorn). And while the physical changes our bodies go through during pregnancy are mostly out of our control, we can do our best to prevent them by using the right products. So today I want to share with you the products that I have been using this pregnancy to avoid getting the ever dreaded stretch marks, and so far so good!

To be honest, I thought I was doomed. I had an intense growth spurt in seventh-grade that resulted in a lovely, permanent zebra stripe pattern on my hips and bum (see above). So, I knew that I was susceptible to them (aka, not a unicorn). Drats. But, apparently, I am doing something right because as of now (28 weeks), I am stretch mark free! Wahoo!

So, here are the organic miracle workers I've been using to combat pregnancy stretch marks:

Hydration is the answer, my friends.

Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking water is extra important during pregnancy. Not just for delivering the essentials to your baby, but also for you! Drinking plenty of water will keep your skin (and your entire body) well-hydrated. This will help to keep your skin supple and less prone to the tearing, which is what those awful stretch marks are.

Exfoliate

When you exfoliate, you remove those dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. This allows new cells to surface and increases blood circulation, which is said to help prevent stretch marks. It also allows for your moisturizers to actually penetrate your skin better. I have been using Kopari's Coconut Crush Scrub (it smells amazing and leaves your skin super soft).

Keep Your Skin Moist

Give your skin a fighting chance early on by loading up on the topical moisturizers (I started in my first trimester). When your skin is well-hydrated, it is better able to stretch. Dry, thirsty skin has less elasticity. But note, not all moisturizers are created equal. I am all about that coconut life.

First, I start by using Kopari's yummy Coconut Body Milk followed by their fast-absorbing Organic Coconut Melt, which contains loads of Vitamin E and proteins to protect and moisturize your skin. It's my secret weapon for sure. I use it every single morning - and sometimes at night before bed, and so far I don't have a single stretch mark (I hope I didn't just jinx myself haha).

When I travel, I love to take my Coconut Dry Oil with me on the airplane, because heaven knows those things can dry you the heck out! It's really lightweight and quickly absorbs, so don't worry about any oily mess. Your skin will drink it right up, yet feel hydrated for hours.

If you like doubling up, you can even slather on some Coconut Balm for extra moisture.

Basically, when it comes to products, coconuts have been my lifesaver. Its unique properties help to deeply penetrate your skin while intensely moisturizing.

What have you mamas been using to successfully prevent stretch marks?
