I am finally starting to feel like me again. Going through four and a half years of IVF and nine months of pregnancy can definitely take it's toll. I pretty much stopped working out all together for a long time because I was constantly being put on some sort of modified bed rest and it was too hard trying to "get back into it" over and over. But now, I am FREE haha. I joined Orangetheory at the beginning of the year and I have been OBSESSED. It feels good to be 'back in the saddle' so-to-speak (I've been going about four days a week). So I thought today would be fun to share what's been in my 'gym bag:' from my favorite protein bars to the best post-workout deodorant.

A Natural Deodorant

First, let's start with my deodorant - because who wants to smell after a workout?! I am pretty sure the answer is no one (at least I hope).

I made the switch to natural deodorant when I was pregnant with Luna. I had been wanting to for a really long time to be honest, but was nervous it wouldn't work... and I won't lie to you guys, not all natural deodorants are created equal. The first one I tried did nothing for me and I about quit. But I knew I needed to stick with it because I'd read that the chemicals in antiperspirants can not only cause breast cancer or Alzheimers, but also may even cause infertility. NOT a risk I am willing to take. I've worked too dang hard and put my body through too much.

When it comes to finding the right one, look for deodorants that are free from parabens and aluminum. I like to find one that has a good balance of baking soda and good-for-you oils, like coconut oil and jojoba oil. That's why I have liked using Native deodorant. My personal favorite (and their most popular scent) is the classic coconut and vanilla.

If you're thinking of making the switch, remember that it takes your body a while to adjust. Try going au-natural for a few days to detox your armpits and keep in mind that it will take your body a few weeks to adjust, so give it time. But once you do, you won't go back.

A Low Sugar Protein Bar

I mean, I didn't just go kick my own butt at the gym only to ingest a bunch of sugar. But after a hard workout, I am pretty much famished by 11am (I try to do intermittent fasting so I try not to eat breakfast until after my workout around 10:30am). And a bar is usually my go-to because 1. I need to refuel and rebuild my muscles after breaking them down and 2. I am usually on the go chasing Luna around everywhere so bars are just easy. I am obsessed with ONE bars. They have 20 grams of protein and only 1 gram of sugar. Did I mention they taste like heaven? Haha. Mystery favorites are the Maple Glazed Doughnut, Cookies and Creme, and the Birthday Cake (yes, clearly I have a sweet tooth haha). And these satisfy it without loading up on sugar.

A Good Lip Balm

I seriously CANNOT workout without lip balm. Like, if I forget it, I seriously am licking my lips the whole time while I'm on the treadmill and mouth breathing like a panting dog. I am actually a big fan of Fresh and classic cherry chapstick.

My Favorite Hair Ties

Post-partum hair loss is a thing, you guys! And it sucks! So I have been trying to be extra careful with the hair ties I use in order not to cause any more breakage before I go legit bald. These hair ties help prevent split ends and don't crimp your hair.

A Towel

Like I said, I sweat a lot. So I like to bring a towel with me to the gym to not only wipe my forehead when needed, but also to use on gym mats or benches so I am not laying on someone else's sweat while simultaneously depositing mine on top. Ring worm is a thing, guys. Look it up. YUCK.

A Cute Gym Outfit

Nothing motivates me more to get to the gym than a cute outfit haha. It's true what they say: when you look good you feel good. So why not use that as an excuse to buy yourself a cute new workout set? It's for the good of your health, duh.
