What a summer. How is it already basically over? It's been incredible with all the time I spent in my hometown of Park City, Utah, and then Italy. And oh what a European vacation it was. Tuscany, Italy will always be one of my favorites.
If you're visiting Tuscany, Italy, make it a point to spend a day in San Gimignano and Siena. Both cities are small, romantic, and full of beautiful medieval architecture. They were made for strolling. If you visit in the summertime, it's hot, so be sure to enjoy some gelato.
We happened to be visiting Siena during the famous Palio horse race (it's held twice a year on July 2nd and August 16th. Ten horses and riders (riding bareback) represent divided areas of the city and challenge each other to a race. We got to see one of the areas present their horse by parading down the narrow streets to the Piazza del Campo. The race itself only lasts about ninety seconds, but the pageantry and experience is so fun to experience.
Have you ever visited Siena or San Gimignano?
