As you guys may have read on my blog and seen on my Instagram, I recently had the amazing opportunity to go to Hawaii with The Luxury Collection, a Starwood Hotels Group, and One Kings Lane, your one-stop-shop for designer home decor and vintage finds. And let me tell you, I had a blast!
We stayed in Waikiki at the beautiful Royal Hawaiian Hotel, otherwise known as The Pink Palace of the Pacific. When I arrived I stepped out of the car and was kindly greeted with a traditional Hawaiian lei and shown to my luxurious ocean-view suite in the historic section of the hotel. Once I got settled and properly took in the stunning views, I decided to explore and shop around Waikiki… and it was honestly every fashion girls dream! I am pretty sure almost every major designer has a storefront along the bustling boulevard right outside the hotel.
The next morning I awoke early to watch the sunrise on the surfer-drenched waters and have a delicious breakfast at the hotel’s Surf Lanai restaurant. After that we were ready to explore. First, we got a panoramic view of the lush Windward Coast at Nuuanu Pali lookout, soaked in the sun at Lanikai Beach (my absolute favorite beach on the island), and shopped around some more in Kailua followed by a delicious meal at the hotels famed Azure Restaurant.
Day two we were ready to get adventurous. Andrea, Nicole and I took a surf lesson given by the Waikiki Beach Boys and, although I am terrified of the ocean (more specifically of sharks and fish), I felt safe in the waters and was totally proud of myself for getting up on my second try. Although, I must say, I may have flashed a few people here and there when my bikini bottoms kept coming off in the waves (go me)! Once we were dry and i’d gathered my dignity, we got to make lei’s and flower crowns from Hawiian flora to wear to the Aha’aina Luau, a royal celebration. Although I am not big on eating fish (again, it’s the fish phobia), I tried everything and it honestly was all delicious (a girl’s gotta be brave every now and then).
On our last day of filming, we continued the adventures and hiked to the top of Diamond Head Crater, which provided a stunning view of Oahu and even our hotel. Afterwards, we got to cool down by enjoying some “shave ice” (not “shaved” ice as I found out), relaxed by enjoying a blowout, and then experienced an amazing eight-course meal with local bloggers at the Royal Hawaiian.
After filming The Perfect Day had wrapped my hubby was able to join me for the remainder of my stay and we explored the North Shore and hiked Manoa Falls Trail which made me feel like I was in the middle of Lost or Jurassic Park (both of which were filmed on Oahu by the way).
All in all it was an incredible experience that I am so thankful I was able to be a part of. Be sure to stay tuned as One Kings Lane will be launching a Hawaiian themed sale on their site to coincide with our Perfect Day in Hawaii.
